Art
At Wallington Primary School, the Arts empower students to explore their creativity and express themselves by engaging with diverse practices, disciplines, and cultural traditions from local, national, and global perspectives. As both artists and audiences, our students create, respond, and appreciate various art forms, building confidence, challenging assumptions, and deepening their understanding of individual and community identities across different histories and cultures.
In Visual Arts, students engage as both creators and viewers through the interconnected processes of Making and Responding. Making involves learning skills, techniques, and the use of materials to express ideas in various art forms, while Responding includes analysing, interpreting, and evaluating artworks to understand cultural contexts and artistic intentions. This dual approach enables students to develop critical and practical skills, refine their aesthetic expression, and appreciate diverse artistic conventions, materials, and viewpoints.
Our Visual Art program guides students through exploration, experimentation, and problem-solving in visual expression, using various techniques, tools, and processes. This learning journey helps students build confidence in their unique visual style while fostering appreciation for the artistic expressions of others.
