School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support
At Wallington Primary School, we are committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Central to this commitment is our focus on School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), a framework that promotes positive behaviour and enhances student wellbeing.
Our core expectations– Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Resilient – are at the heart of everything we do. Through SWPBS, we ensure these values are not just words but clear beahvioural expectations that shape our school culture.
The SWPBS Matrix
Our SWPBS matrix outlines clear expectations for behaviour in different areas of the school, such as the classroom, playground, and safety online. It provides a consistent framework that supports all students to thrive, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and empowered to succeed.
By embedding SWPBS into our daily practices, we create an environment where every student can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we build a school community that truly lives by its values.
Proactive Approach
Model: Staff consistently demonstrate respectful, responsible, and resilient behaviors, setting a positive example for our students.
Teach: We explicitly teach what these values look like in various school settings using our SWPBS matrix. This helps students understand and practice these behaviours in the classroom, playground, and beyond.
Reward: Positive behaviours are celebrated through a variety of recognition systems, reinforcing the importance of living our values every day.
SWPBS REWARDS
Students receive tokens when they show our expected behaviours and can cash them in for rewards. The charts below are the rewards that the students came up with across the school.
